It’s Food Fact Friday today, and I’m talking beets! I love beets because they are so delicious, but I also love the amazing hormone & health benefits they have.
What are the benefits?
- Boost your liver & helps it detox, which in turn helps balance your hormones – meaning a happier, healthier you in general. Beets are hands down one of my top liver-loving foods.
- high in immune-boosting vitamin C, and essential minerals like potassium (essential for healthy nerve and muscle function) and manganese (which is good for your bones, liver, kidneys, and pancreas)
- Fiber that will help boot out excess estrogen and reduce PMS
- helps protects cells, proteins, and enzymes from environmental stress & toxins.
- also known to help fight inflammation, protect internal organs, improve heart health, enhance performance, and likely help prevent numerous chronic diseases
Here is one of my favorite beet recipes just for you – yes this can help balance your hormones, banish your belly & control mood swings!
Easy Beet Citrus Salad
2 Beets, outer peel scrubbed clean or peeled
4 carrots, scrubbed or peeled
sesame seeds for garnish
Using a manual grater or the grater attachment for your food processor, grate together the beets and carrots
Toss with Sweet Citrus Dressing or salad dressing of choice.
Sprinkle with raw or lightly toasted sesame seeds.
Sweet Citrus Dressing
3 Tbs fresh orange juice
1 Tbs fresh lemon juice
1Tbs olive oil
sea salt to taste
