Everyone loves ranch dressing – it’s probably the most-asked-for dressing from my clients when they are looking for healthier alternatives.

Why not regular ranch dressing? Most store-bought ranch combines ingredients like mayonnaise, buttermilk, lemon juice and “herbs and spices”, including MSG (this will mess up your hormones – stay away from it if at all possible!!).  Another not-so-fun fact – most of all the varieties of dressings on the shelf have rancid oils in them.  They just throw deodorizers in so you don’t know this.  Gross.  Did you know you were eating that?

Ok, so making your own is not only healthier and delicious – you will actually know what’s in it!  Imagine that!

 

Healthy Ranch Dressing

Creamy and delicious dressing. Using this as a base, you can add your favourite mustard or spices to create new dressings.

 

½ cup cashew nuts

½ cup water

½ sprig of basil

½ sprig of dill

1 Tbsp lemon juice

Pinch of salt

  1. Blend the cashews to a flour-like consistency using a blender.
  2. Add half of the water, and mix.
  3. Add the spices, lemon juice, and salt.
  4. Add a little water at a time and blend until desired consistency.
