Let’s talk Perimenopause symptoms today.

Essentially, perimenopause is the 10 (ish) years before you actually go through menopause – and they can SUCK if you don’t know how to help support your hormones through this time.

This may sound dramatic, but I see so many Women struggling throughout this stage.

They:

  • are tired of being tired all of the time
  • don’t recognize themselves in the mirror anymore
  • are snapping at the people they love the most
  • can’t focus at work, and feel like they may lose their job if this keeps up
  • toss and turn all night – hoping tonight is the night they finally get some sleep
  • don’t fit into their jeans anymore and can’t figure out why they are gaining weight in their bellies when they never used to
  • see more and more hair going down the drain
  • struggle with low sex drive, which affects their relationships
  • are anxious, sweaty and feel like this is never going to end

Typically I’m seeing perimenopause symptoms start from age 35+.

Symptoms can start gradually with exhaustion, and periods that seem to be closer together than they used to be. Anxiety can creep in more and more that week before your period, and PMS seems to be getting worse. Then starts the bloating and weight gain… and it seems to snowball from there.

Knowing WHAT is happening is essential here. Once you know, you can find some support and create a plan to move forward. A plan that helps you feel in control again – and a plan that helps you show up in your life the way you’ve been wanting to.

Here are 21 symptoms of Perimenopause that you need to know about.

  • Low Energy
  • Weight Gain (especially around your belly)
  • Mood Swings
  • Anger/Irritability
  • Trouble Sleeping or Insomnia
  • Brain Fog/Memory Problems
  • Irregular Periods
  • Heavy Periods
  • PMS/Worsening PMS
  • Anxiety
  • Bloating
  • Low Sex Drive
  • Hot Flashes
  • Night Sweats
  • Joint Pain
  • Vaginal Dryness
  • Itchy Skin
  • Headaches
  • Incontinence
  • Hair Loss
  • Incontinence/Weaker Bladder

Here’s something to consider – if you go into perimenopause with a pre-existing hormone imbalance – your symptoms are likely to be worse than if you didn’t. (hint – it’s never too early to focus on hormone health!)

The most common mistake I see, is Women who put off focusing on their hormone health. The longer you wait, the louder your symptoms seem to scream at you every day.

Here’s the secret though – YOU DON’T HAVE TO STRUGGLE WITH THESE SYMPTOMS!

Perimenopause just describes a hormonal change we go through, as we head towards menopause.

It doesn’t have to be horrible – there are many things you can do to make these years much better!
